Book Reading/Signing & Reception -- Gretchen Thomas

The First Unitarian Church of San Jose Partner Church Committee
is pleased to host Rev. Gretchen Thomas who will be reading and
signing her new book, Walking in Others'
Shoes: Stories from the Early Years of the Partner Church
Movement.
Rev. Gretchen Thomas was the FUCSJ Minister of Religious
Education from 1987 until 1991. While in San Jose, she was very
active in the partner church movement. Walking in Others' Shoes:
Stories from the Early Years of the Partner Church Movement has
just been published and on June 20th Gretchen read from the book
and sign books for everyone who wants to buy a copy ($28). This
is a great opportunity to meet someone who was among the first to
forged ties half way around the world to the first Unitarians. A
reception will follow.

Food Drive and Strawberry Shortcake Social

Annual food drive
followed by a strawberry
shortcake social (with organic
strawberries!). ‘Do good’ and have
good food while having fun and enjoying a sociable
time.
The proceeds of the drive will go to Sunnyvale
Community Services which provides food and
many other services to low income families and
seniors in Sunnyvale. The services are all centered
on preventing homelessness which is a rapidly
increasing threat in our community, (seniors are
the fastest growing group falling into poverty and
food insecurity in Sunnyvale.)

Sunday Afternoon Flick - “UP”

Join us for “Up,” a wonderful animated movie, recommended for children and adults over the
age of 6. “Up,” which came out in 2009, is rated PG and is 96 minutes long and will play
on our large flat screen TV in the chapel.
There will be a movie for younger children in Nina's office at the same time.
