The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Sunnyvale (UUFS), was founded early in 1962 by 6 couples who were all members of the Palo Alto Unitarian Church that had become overcrowded.
Encouraged to form a Fellowship that would serve the Sunnyvale/Cupertino area we met for the first time on March 4, 1962, in the meeting room above a Sunnyvale Co–op store. By that time, we had 30 charter members (three times the minimum required).
The Fellowship recorded by–laws on April 1, 1962, and the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association) in Boston sent an official letter of recognition and welcome in June. At that time we had 135 members.
