Rev. Vicky Combs, UUFS Interim Minister

UUFS Parish Minister

Hello and Welcome!

I am Vicky Combs, the interim minister. Thanks for “stopping by” and giving UUFS a look see. If you are searching for an open and caring community of spiritual seekers longing to heal themselves and the world around them, and/or a place where your children can learn to build bridges rather than barriers in a diverse and multi-cultural world, you’ve come to the right place. Again, welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Sunnyvale.

UUFS is in that transformative period between settled ministers. This is an exciting time for this congregation as they re-examine who they have been and who they wish to become. We invite you to share in that excitement and help build a spiritual home for you and your family that nourishes your soul and allows you to become part of something greater than yourself.

You will find here a wide variety of ways to participate in the life of this community. In addition to our Sunday liturgy and children’s religious education classes, there are programs for adults of all ages and children with a variety of purposes and intentions. So, dear visitor, make yourself at home and stay a while, or a life time. I’m glad you found us.

About Rev. Vicky:

The Rev. Vicky Combs is a 1994 graduate of Meadville-Lombard Theological School, a board certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains and a licensed massage therapist. She has worked most recently as a prn staff chaplain at Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, MO. Vicky and her partner, Sibyl, share a passion for the ministry of holistic wellness in body, mind and spirit summed up in the phrase “healthy people on a healthy planet”.

Vicky was born and raised in Kansas City, MO and has lived all over North America, including a year north of the 49th parallel (Toronto and Winnipeg) which she dearly loved. One of twelve (yes, 12) children from a devout Catholic family, Vicky brings from that upbringing a passionate concern for social justice born of Catholicism’s liberation theology movement.

Though Vicky lived in UU “Mecca” (i.e. Boston, home of UUA headquarters) for 7+ years, she didn’t discover Unitarian Universalism until she returned to Kansas City prior to her father’s death in 1988. It was love at first sight and Vicky has been a devoted UU ever since.

Vicky and Sibyl live with their four legged familiars in the south bay area and are currently working to co-create a holistic healing center in the context of a residential intentional community devoted to sustainable living.
