What is the purpose of the UUFS_Community group?
To build community by enabling individuals to send messages to (most of) the entire congregation.

Why are there two different email groups?
The two different groups serve two different functions. The UUFS_Community group is for personal, two-way communication. The UUFS_Notices group is for organizational, one-way communication.

Who is in the UUFS_Community group?
UUFS members and friends who have email addresses.

How can I stay out of the group?
Do not respond to the invitation. People are not added to the group until they join.

How do I send email to the UUFS_Community group?
Address your email to UUFS_Community@yahoogroups.com

Do I need a Yahoo account to use the UUFS_Community group email?
You do not need a Yahoo account to send and receive group email. However, to access group web features you do need a Yahoo account.

What content is appropriate to send to the UUFS_Community group?
Refer to the "Best Practices" guide for UUFS_Community group. This guide is sent periodically to the group.

How can I get taken out of the group?
Each message sent to the group has an "unsubscribe" link near the bottom. Use this link to have yourself removed from the group.

How can I get added to the group?
Send a request to postmaster@uufs.org. Note that the group is restricted to UUFS members and friends.

Are postings to the group email moderated?
Postings are not moderated or monitored. We expect the group to be self policing. If you have a complaint or concern about group email usage send your comment to postmaster@uufs.org.

Will I get many UUFS_Community email messages?
This is hard to say. The Redwood City Fellowship (~160 members) uses a similar group email. They began using the group email in 2001; over the first twelve months they averaged one message per day; over the most recent twelve months they averaged four messages per day.

How can I reduce the number of UUFS_Community emails I receive?
To limit UUFS_Community email delivery to one message per day in your Inbox, email postmaster@uufs.org and ask to receive the email digest. Each morning you will receive one summary email that lists all emails sent to the group during the previous 24 hours. The summary lists the emails by Subject, with a hot link to the complete message.
